Azcendant was born out of an unexpected circumstance, but it was this unique beginning that set the tone for our success. In July 2015, when CK CHOO’s former employer went out of business, he found himself at a crossroads. It was then that his peers, Mr. Soh and Mr. Lye, presented the opportunity to turn adversity into advantage – the idea to establish our own company. Each founder brought to the table their unique expertise in design, project management, costing, and entrepreneurship.
Thus, Azcendant was founded with the aim of providing high-quality service and workmanship at affordable prices. From our humble beginnings as a three-person operation based in Singapore, we have grown into a team of ten and have expanded our portfolio to include a wide range of interior design and build services.
Over the years, we have achieved numerous significant milestones that bear testament to our commitment to excellence. We have been recognized with bizSAFE Level 3 certification, demonstrating our ability to manage workplace risks effectively. We are also proud to be CaseTrust accredited, signifying our dedication to fair trading and transparency. Our listings with the Building Construction Authority (BCA) and Housing Development Board (HDB) reflect our capabilities in minor construction, interior decoration, finishing works, and HDB renovations. In recognition of our outstanding services, we were honored with the Entrepreneur 100 Award in 2021 and the Singapore 500 SME Award in 2018.
The journey has not been without challenges. We’ve faced a shortage of skilled workers, but we’ve turned this into an opportunity for continuous learning and skill development within our team.
Today, we stand out in our industry as a one-stop service provider – from design to build, including soft furnishings. We not only ensure top-notch quality but also offer the unique ability to cater to international clients. The contractor industry has been listed in the top ten industries with the highest number of complaints received by CASE in the past decade. The top two types of complaints are usually on unsatisfactory services and failure to honour the contractual agreement. For example, contractors may deliver shoddy work such as uneven tiles on the floor, misaligned cabinet doors, wrong paint colour on the walls, water leakage from the pipes, etc. There are often cases where consumers are left in the lurch after the contractor collects the deposit and disappears.
Case encourages consumers to engage a CaseTrust accredited contractor. The Accreditation Scheme will help renovation businesses to tighten up their business and operational systems and practices for fair and transparent trading and quality works.
